Department of PG Studies and Research in Applied Zoology
The Post Graduate Department of Applied Zoology was started in 1993. The Department offers P.G., Programme M.Sc., in Zoology and Ph.D., in Applied Zoology. Major thrust areas of the Department include Genetics, Biodiversity, Toxicology. M.Sc students are trained in various aspects of Zoology including Genetics, Molecular Biology, Toxicology, Biotechnology, Computational Biology, Biodiversity etc. Department has got a very good placement record of students. The faculty have completed many research projects funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, Vision Group on Science and Technology, ICFRE, Government of Karnataka. In addition, Department has been part of the inter-disciplinary BUILDER Project (4.5 Crores) associated with Departments of Biotechnology, Botany and Environmental Science. Department has conducted many national conferences, symposia, seminars, workshops and refresher courses.
Eligibility: B.Sc. Degree from any recognized university or any other equivalent qualification with any of the following sets of optionals - Chemistry / Botany / Zoology; Biochemistry / Chemistry / Zoology; Zoology / Biochemistry / Botany; Zoology / Sericulture / Biochemistry; Botany / Zoology / Microbiology or any combination with Zoology in B.Sc.Chairman
